(April 20) – The Dallas Bar Association recently announced that the Dallas Minority Attorney Program selected DBA Executive Director Catharine Maher as the recipient of its Legacy Award.
The Legacy Award, which is not an annual award, is given to individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to diversity. Past winners include L.A. Bedford, Adelfa Callejo, Al Ellis, Harriet Miers and Lisa Tatum.
Under Maher’s leadership, the DBA has twice received the American Bar Association Partnership Award for outstanding diversity programming in the U.S.
She has helped create the Dallas Minority Attorney Program, the Minority Attorney Business Development Initiative, the DBA’s Minority Participation Committee and the DBA Diversity Summit.
“Through Ms. Maher’s efforts over the past 22 years, the Dallas Bar Association has encouraged, fostered and sponsored diversity,” Rhonda Hunter, Dallas Minority Attorney Program co-chair, said in a statement. “There can be no other person to receive this award.”
