DBJ: DOJ Sues Sabre to Block $360M Acquisition Over Competition Concerns

August 21, 2019 Brian Womack of the Dallas Business Journal

The feds are preparing to go to court to stop Sabre’s $360 million deal for Farelogix after all.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a civil antitrust lawsuit Tuesday seeking to block the deal, saying the move would allow Sabre (NASDAQ: SABR), the largest booking services provider in the U.S., to eliminate a competitor that has introduced new technology to the travel industry and is poised to grow significantly, the agency said in a statement.

Counsel information for Sabre was not immediately available, but Wilmington, Delaware-based Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Hatcher is handling the case for the government. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
