DBJ: Former Gibson Dunn Lawyer Named Vistra’s CFO

July 26, 2022 DBJ Staff Report

Irving-based Vistra announced today the appointment of Kris Moldovan as its new CFO, according to a news release.

Effective Aug. 1, Moldovan will assume the role of Jim Burke, who was recently announced as Vistra’s new CEO beginning Aug 1.

“With a unique combination of deep industry expertise, company knowledge, and financial acumen, Kris is the right leader to be our next CFO,” Burke said in the release. “For more than a decade, Kris has been instrumental to our finance team and has played a key role in the design and execution of our capital allocation strategy, having managed several critical transactions. The board and I are excited to partner with Kris and look forward to his continued contributions to Vistra.”

Moldovan has been with Vistra and its predecessor companies since 2006. For the past five years, he served as its SVP and treasurer. Before joining the company, Moldovan was an attorney for Dallas-based Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LL and Chicago-based Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon.
