(March 30) – Dorsey & Whitney recently announced that Gina Betts and Jamie Whatley have been named co-heads of the firm’s new Dallas office.

Betts represents issuers and purchasers in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities and assists public companies in the preparation of SEC periodic reports and proxy statements.

Whatley represents financial institutions, private equity funds, mezzanine funds, agent banks, institutional investors and startup companies in finance transactions and debt restructurings.

Last month, Dorsey opened its 14th office nationwide in Dallas with the 15 attorneys from Schiff Hardin’s Dallas outpost.

Larry Makel, who started the Patton Boggs Dallas office nearly 20 years ago and was part of the initial Schiff Hardin group, said the move to Dorsey was a “one-plus-one makes three proposition.” In particular, he pointed to Dorsey’s significant business base in Minneapolis.

The Dallas Dorsey lawyers’ clients include Texas Capital Bank, Triumph Bank and Capital One Bank.
