(Aug. 14) – David Elrod and a team of energy litigators have left litigation boutique Gruber Elrod for Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton.
Making the move with Elrod are partner Worthy Walker, of counsel Barbara Wohlrabe and associate Hayley Ellison.
“It is an acquisition of several great trial lawyers that bring expertise we don’t have,” says name John Shackelford. “Adding David makes our firm more attractive to others.”
Elrod, who is joining a full-service law firm for the first time since 1989, noted Shackelford’s leadership and management style as key reasons he joined forces with his firm.
“John’s firm has a whole lot of strong niche practices,” he says. “When John sees an opportunity, he takes advantage of it.”
Elrod pointed to his new firm’s music industry expertise in Nashville and Dallas-based aviation practice as examples.
With his team’s strong relationships and expertise in the energy industry, Elrod says he and Shackelford have discussed the possibility of opening a Houston office if the right opportunity presents itself.
Elrod is leaving Gruber Elrod almost two-and-a-half years after he combined his firm with the litigation boutique. Gruber’s firm will be renamed Gruber Hail Johansen Shank, according to firm leadership.
“The firm and David mutually decided to part ways with our respective practices, and we wish him well,” said Mark Shank, managing partner of Gruber Hail.
