June 24, 2019 Brooks Igo

Mary Allen, the former chief operating officer and general counsel for the Waller Creek Conservancy, has joined Austin-based McGinnis Lochridge as of counsel, the firm announced on Monday.

In her previous role, Allen gained experience working with the City of Austin to oversee the creation and maintenance of parks along Waller Creek in downtown Austin.

“I’ve long admired the talent and accomplishments of the attorneys at McGinnis Lochridge,” Allen said in a statement. “I’m excited to join the dynamic land and water group, and get to work developing strategies that will position our clients successfully in a wide range of real estate transactions.”

Allen will focus her practice on acquisitions, development approvals and creative financing solutions. Before her tenure at Waller Creek Conservancy, she was the chief operating officer and general counsel of Calendar Holdings LLC in Austin, the parent company of retail brands selling calendars, games and toys.

The University of Houston Law Center graduate started her career at Hughes, Watters & Askanase in Houston. She later relocated to Austin by way of joining Graves Dougherty Hearon & Moody.
