Notable successes from Locke Lord during 2016 include:
- Represented American Midstream Partners LP in its merger with JP Energy Partners LP to create a combined midstream platform announced in Q4 of 2016 and closed in early 2017. The combined partnership had an estimated enterprise value of $2 billion. The deal team was led by Houston Partner Bill Swanstrom.
- Represented Waste Connections in the $3.5 billion merger with Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. closed on June 1, 2016, led by Houston Partner David Taylor.
- Served as legal counsel in numerous Private Equity deals in the Energy sector including a $524M equity commitment from NGP Natural Resources XI, L.P. to Luxe Energy LLC led by a Houston’s Mitch Tiras and Eric Larson. Tiras also led a $300M commitment to Sabinal Energy, LLC from Kayne Private Energy Income Fund LP and management as well as a $250M commitment to Fortis Minerals, LLC in a deal with EnCap Energy Capital Fund X, L.P.
- Following a five-week long trial, Locke Lord client Spitzer Industries received a favorable judgment in a significant construction-related dispute. The total judgment for $35.9 million included actual damages of approximately $27 million.The trial team was led by David Harrell and Derrick Carson of Houston.
- The Firm’s Public Law & Policy practice group was again ranked the No. 1 Texas law firm lobby practice by Capitol Insidein its Texas Lobby Power Rankings and Partner Robert Miller was ranked among the Top 3 lobbyists in the state.
- Locke Lord established a Firmwide Art Law Industry Group that is led by Dallas Partner Stuart Bumpas, in 2016 which helps our clients navigate the legal issues involved in the creation, ownership and transfer of rights in art. The group includes a cross-section of our lawyers with experience in a number of practice areas.
