Our commitment to working together to make our clients successful translates into success for the Firm. This practice explains our positive financial performance in 2016 and our 130-year longevity.
Last year, we delivered positive results for our clients. For example, we served as counsel to H. Thomas Moran, II, Chapter 11 trustee for Life Partners Holdings, Inc., as well as debtors’ counsel to the Life Partners operating subsidiaries. We advanced and obtained confirmation of a joint plan of reorganization, which, among other things, preserves a $2.4 billion life insurance policy portfolio for the benefit of more than 22,000 investors.
We advised North American Properties in the sale of Avalon, a premier 1.1 million square foot mixed-use lifestyle center; and represented BNSF in the first federal court-of-appeals case on whether obesity can be an “impairment” under 2008 amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act (the U.S. Supreme Court denied review).
From an energy industry perspective, T&K continued to serve as National Coordinating Counsel for civil royalty cases for one of the largest natural gas producers in the United States. We advised Silver Hill Energy Partners in its $2.4 billion sale to RSP Permian Inc., which set “a new high-water mark” for Delaware Basin transactions, and also represented Yates Petroleum Corporation in its $2.4 billion merger with EOG Resources, Inc.
The Firm’s Mexico presence continues to expand. Last year, we advised Fisterra Energy in the sale of the Mexican holding companies of Ventika, Mexico’s largest onshore wind farm and one of the largest wind farms in Latin America, and we represented numerous clients in the execution of license agreements with the National Hydrocarbons Commission of Mexico related to the country’s historic energy reform.
Thanks to our loyal clients and top-quality lawyers and staff, we remain well-positioned for success in 2017 and beyond.
