(Aug. 4) – Greenberg Traurig announced yesterday that former Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean McKenna has joined the Dallas office as a shareholder.
McKenna was most recently the co-chair of Haynes and Boone’s healthcare practice.
“Greenberg Traurig’s national platform and depth in healthcare was a great opportunity to service my clients better,” said McKenna, who served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Texas for more than a decade.
The University of Houston Law Center graduate focuses his practice on healthcare enforcement and regulatory issues, representing individuals and providers under civil or administrative investigation by the Department of Justice, Offices of Inspector General, and Attorneys’ General Medicaid Fraud Control Units, as well as in criminal investigations and matters involving the United States and State Attorneys General.
“His unique background and understanding of various enforcement and regulatory agencies will be an invaluable resource for both current and future clients in Texas and across the firm,” Joseph Coniglio, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Dallas office, said in a statement.
McKenna says he is seeing an overall increase in enforcement activity, driven in part by an uptick in whistle blower cases. He added that the Yates memo has indeed led to a greater focus on individual liability in corporate investigations.
