By Brooks Igo
(Dec. 5) – Squire Patton Boggs announced Monday that it enhanced its cybersecurity and data privacy expertise with the addition of Dallas partner Matt Yarbrough, who is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.
Yarbrough joins Squire Patton Boggs from Yarbrough Law Group, a law firm he started almost 10 years ago to handle litigation, intellectual property, white collar and cyber law matters. His clients include Texas Instruments, BMC Software and 7-Eleven.
During his five-year tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Yarbrough founded the first Cybercrimes and Criminal Intellectual Property Task Force in the Northern District of Texas. He prosecuted the first data intercept of a hacker ring in U.S. history, known as the “Phonemasters” case, according to a press release issued by the firm.
In 2000, Yarbrough was tapped by former Texas Attorney General John Cornyn to serve as special counsel and create the Texas Internet Bureau to fight identity theft, internet fraud and data breaches.
