Troutman Pepper Locke announced recently that veteran energy industry general counsel Brock M. Degeyter has joined the firm as a partner.

Degeyter was most recently the general counsel, chief compliance officer, and secretary of Medallion Midstream until its $2.6 billion acquisition by ONEOK, which closed last October. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the firm’s Energy Transactional Practice.
“Brock’s extensive experience across the midstream oil and gas sector, paired with his deep understanding of executive decision-making, makes him a stand-out addition to our firm,” Christine Byrnes, leader of Troutman Pepper Locke’s Energy Transactional Practice Group, said in a news release. “Many of our attorneys worked closely with Brock during his tenure as general counsel for two of our midstream clients, so we know firsthand the caliber of his work. He will be a dynamic force in expanding our M&A and private equity practices in Dallas.”
Prior to his GC tenure at Medallion, Degeyter was in the same role at Summit Midstream for nearly a decade. He played a key role in Summit’s initial public offering.
Degeyter also worked for six years in the Energy Future Holdings legal department, where he was involved in the landmark leveraged buyout of TXU Corp.
Troutman Pepper Locke Dallas managing partner Elizabeth Mack said “Brock is the perfect example of our strategic commitment to attracting top talent in Texas. Thanks to Brock’s extensive network and strong reputation, he will help build upon the success we have had as a law firm positioning ourselves as a leader in the energy sector.”
