(Feb. 20) – Greenberg Traurig recently announced that David Black, former general counsel of BearingPoint and ACS, has lateraled to the firm’s Dallas office as a shareholder.

The former Fortune 500 GC was most recently a partner at Carrington Coleman. He says Greenberg Traurig’s platform is a better fit for his clients.

“Greenberg presented an opportunity for me to serve clients with a global platform,” he said. “This is an important move for my larger clients.”

Black focuses his practice on corporate governance and compliance; mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances; private equity and commercial banking and lending; commercial real estate; and corporate finance and securities transactions.

The Baylor University School of Law graduate says there is a real sense of optimism in the business community about growing organically and by consolidating through mergers and acquisitions. He says he is currently working with a number of clients who are raising money to grow their business.
Black says being on the buy and sell sides of legal services gives him a unique perspective.

“I know how GCs want to be treated with respect to the service they want, the staffing of projects and flexible fee structures,” he said.
