Former Legal Director of CENAGAS in Mexico Joins Reed Smith in Houston

January 8, 2019 Brooks Igo

The former legal director of the Centro Nacional de Control del Gas Natural in Mexico has joined Reed Smith’s Houston office as counsel, the law firm announced on Tuesday.

Mariano Ornelas López was appointed in 2016 to the general counsel role at CENAGAS, the Mexican government entity that manages the country’s natural gas transportation and storage network. He brings his expertise in energy and administrative law – with a particular emphasis on electricity, oil and gas and infrastructure projects – to Reed Smith’s global energy and natural resources industry group and Latin America Business Team.

Over his career, Ornelas has led the energy and infrastructure practice at a Mexican law firm and served as deputy director of regulation at the Ministry of Communications and Transport in the Mexican government. He started his career at Comisión Federal de Electricidad, a Mexican government-owned utility.

Reed Smith also announced that it has added labor and employment expert Hollie Reiminger as counsel and data security and privacy attorney Haylie Treas as associate to the Houston office.
