(June 21) – Baker Botts announced recently that Texas First Court of Appeals Justice Rebeca Huddle has rejoined the firm as a partner in Houston.
Huddle says her old firm is a “terrific landing spot.
“Baker Botts is an excellent place to work.” she said. “I missed being engaged with clients as an advocate and strategist.”
Huddle was appointed to the First Court in 2011 and elected in 2012. She authored more than 400 majority opinions during her time on the bench.
“I had a wonderful experience on the bench. It gave me a better understanding for what is persuasive to judges and juries,” she said.
The University of Texas School of Law graduate focuses her litigation practice on commercial disputes and securities and shareholder actions.
One area of litigation Huddle says she is watching closely is premises liability when an independent contractor gets injured. She says there are a number of cases relating to this issue percolating through the courts.
