Former Texas Appellate Justice Confirmed to Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission

May 28, 2019 Brooks Igo

Cantey Hanger partner and former Dallas Court of Appeals Justice Jason Boatright has been confirmed to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission by a unanimous vote of the Texas Senate.

Boatright, who was appointed to the commission in late April by Governor Greg Abbott, will serve a term that began May 28 and expires November 15, 2023. He will continue to advise Cantey Hanger clients on appellate and administrative law matters.

“Justice Boatright is truly one of Texas’ great legal minds and his years of legal experience and impressive resume will make him a valuable member of our commission,” TABC Chairman Kevin Lilly said in a statement. “I fully expect Justice Boatright to play an important role in our transformation and look forward to hearing his ideas as we adopt the Legislature’s recommendations.”

The commission oversees the agency that inspects, supervises and regulates every phase of businesses related to alcoholic beverages, including manufacturing, sales and distribution.
