(July 22) – Brian Newby, of counsel at Fort Worth law firm Cantey Hanger, was promoted by the United States Air Force to the rank of Major General at a private “pinning” ceremony on at the Fort Worth Club on July 16.
Newby is the Air National Guard Assistant to The Judge Advocate General (TJAG), Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He also serves as the senior representative on the Air National Guard Judge Advocate Council, where he provides leadership, strategic planning and management of the Air National Guard (ANG) Judge Advocate program, which includes more than 440 judge advocates (attorneys) and paralegals at ANG legal offices throughout the U.S.
The Fort Worth attorney has nearly 30 years of service with the active duty Air Force, the Air Force Reserves and the Air National Guard.
In his law practice, Newby, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, represents corporate and governmental clients on commercial disputes and government affairs. Prior to joining Cantey Hanger, he served as chief of staff and general counsel to former Governor Rick Perry.
