(April 10) – Gardere Wynne Sewell trial partner Beverly Godbey received the Dallas Bar Foundation’s 2017 Fellows Justinian Award last week.
Godbey was recognized for “embodying the principles and traditions of the legal profession and serving the community with the highest ethical standards.”
Godbey, who specializes her practice in complex insurance litigation matters, has held multiple leadership positions in the Dallas and statewide legal community while maintaining an active pro bono practice. She is a past president of the Dallas Bar Association and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and is the former chair of the State Bar of Texas board of directors.
In partnership with the Human Rights Initiative, Godbey is currently representing five siblings from Central America who fled the country as unaccompanied minors seeking asylum to escape gang violence and murder. She also represents seniors who have been victims of scams and fraud through the Elder Financial Safety Center of Senior Source.
“Beverly is an exceptional attorney who has a passion for helping those who are less fortunate through her pro bono efforts. She strikes the perfect balance of dedication to her clients and to the community-at-large,” Holly O’Neil, chair of the board of directors at Gardere, said in a statement. “She is a true testament of excellence to our profession, and she is extremely deserving of this honor. I am proud to be her partner.”
