(Sept. 15) – Greenberg Traurig announced today that it has lured two new shareholders to beef up the firm’s litigation practice in the Houston office.
David Oliver and Paul Kerlin jump over from Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease. Oliver was the founding partner of Vorys’ Houston office.
“I liked the firm’s model. It encourages entrepreneurial behavior and collaboration across an impressively broad platform,” Oliver said.
Though both lawyers noted a decrease in filings of traumatic and catastrophic injury cases, they say the risks and complexity of the litigation have increased.
“The cases being filed tend to be those that will pass through the eye of the tort reform needle and thus from both a liability and a damages perspective be more dangerous and complex than those we were seeing 10 years ago,” Oliver said.
