(Dec. 5) – Greenberg Traurig recently announced that Ronald Green, former Houston City Controller, has joined the firm’s Houston office as a shareholder.
Green, who served three consecutive terms as the city’s chief financial officer from 2010 through 2015, will focus his practice on public finance transactional matters and government law and policy. He said Greenberg Traurig’s international platform is a “perfect fit” for him.
Prior to being elected city controller, Green served for six years on the Houston City Council, where he served as chairman of the city’s Budget & Fiscal Affairs Committee. He has also managed his own law firm for 20-plus years.
“The combination sets me apart from many people who make the transition from government to private practice,” he said.
Green, a graduate of Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, notes that one trend he is seeing is that public finance has become more compliance-oriented.
