Haynes and Boone opened a Charlotte, North Carolina office this week with former King & Spalding partner Justin Riess.
The Charlotte location in the Uptown business district is Haynes and Boone’s 17th office worldwide. The firm has long considered the banking and financial hub a strategic priority, according to Managing Partner Tim Powers.
“Our finance practice is one of the cornerstones of the firm, and we could not have picked a better lawyer to help us to expand our practice in Charlotte and across the firm,” Powers said in a statement. “Charlotte has been on our long-term road map for some time, and Justin is the perfect person to help us enter this new market.”
Riess focuses his practice on leveraged finance, specialty finance, private equity finance and syndicated lending. He chaired King & Spalding’s franchise and hospitality industry group.
Dallas partner Todd Cubbage and Washington, D.C. partner C. Kyle Musgrove will help Riess build the new office.
Cubbage, a key partner in the firm’s Fund Finance practice, has experience structuring, negotiating and documenting sophisticated lending arrangements for financial institutions and borrowers, with an particular emphasis on subscription-secured credit facilities.
