HBA and Harris County Judiciary Announce Winners of Bench Bar Pro Bono Awards – Updated

(May 3) – The Houston Bar Association announced at a special luncheon today the winners of the 2017 Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Awards, done in partnership with the Harris County judiciary.

Chief Justice Nathan Hecht of the Supreme Court of Texas delivered the keynote address at today’s ceremony at the Harris County Civil Courthouse.

Robert Schaffer, district court administrative judge, and HBA President Neil Kelly presented the awards for outstanding pro bono service in 2016. The winners include:

Large Firm – Baker Botts
Mid-size Firm – Morgan, Lewis & Bockius
Small Firm – Trahan Dinn Kornegay Payne
Corporation – Exxon Mobil Corporation Law Department
Individual – Hannah Sibiski, senior attorney at Arnold & Porter

The following individuals were recognized as the President’s Pro Bono Stars:

Georgia Jolink, a Houston associate at Baker McKenzie who chair’s the office’s pro bono committee;
Lan Nguyen, an attorney at Shortt & Nguyen;
Joe Villarreal, a municipal judge for the City of Houston
