(Oct. 11) – Houston judge Phyllis Randolph Frye and San Antonio attorney Eduardo Juarez have been selected as recipients by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity for its Stonewall Award.
Frye became the first openly transgender judge appointed in Texas when Houston Mayor Annise Parker appointed her as an associate judge for the City of Houston Municipal Courts in 2010.
Juarez is a supervisory trial attorney with the San Antonio Field Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In 2014, he received the EEOC Pride “Chai Feldblum Award” for his contributions to the LGBT legal community.
Frye and Juarez will be honored at the ABA Midyear Meeting on Feb. 3, 2018 in Vancouver.
