Houston Labor and Employment Partner Joins Hunton AK

August 6, 2020 Brooks Igo

Hunton Andrews Kurth announced this week that it has signed Houston labor and employment partner Scott Nelson.

Nelson was previously at Seyfarth Shaw. He focuses his practice on wage and hour class actions, ERISA litigation and trade secret and restrictive covenant matters. His clients include Marathon Oil, DISA Global Solutions, Fogo de Chao Churrascaria and NAVEX Global.

“Scott’s thorough understanding of the many complex issues our clients face and his impressive track record of experience handling ERISA litigation and advising on international employment law matters complement the strengths of our comprehensive labor and employment practice,” Emily Burkhardt Vicente, co-chair of Hunton Andrews Kurth’s labor and employment group, said in the firm’s announcement.

Nelson started his career at Haynes and Boone and practiced there for eight years. He then moved to Baker McKenzie, where he made partner and eventually led the firm’s domestic U.S. employment counseling and litigation practice.

“I am very excited to be joining the wonderful Hunton Andrews Kurth team,” Nelson said. “Their top notch professionalism, strong culture of collaboration, and outstanding platform for serving and growing my practice are very appealing to me.”
