Houston Trial Boutique Sorrels Law Adds Experienced Trial Lawyers

February 11, 2026 Elle Grinnell

Jim Martin and Sam Kinne have joined Sorrels Law in Houston, continuing the plaintiff-side litigation firm’s expansion.

Martin has more than 40 years of experience as a Texas trial lawyer, which includes almost three decades of board certification in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice includes commercial vehicle collisions, premises liability and liquor liability matters.

He most recently served as lead counsel in a willful negligence case against a hospital, securing a jury verdict exceeding $4 million after the insurer declined to make any pre-trial offer. Martin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981 and his JD from the University of Houston Law Center.

Kinne joins Sorrels Law after beginning his legal career at a defense firm in New York, where he represented brokerage firms, financial advisors and transportation companies in securities arbitration and commercial litigation.

He worked on matters involving FINRA arbitration and federal court disputes before shifting his focus to plaintiff personal injury work in 2022. Since then, Kinne has handled catastrophic injury cases for plaintiffs in multiple jurisdictions. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 2017 and his JD from the University of Houston Law Center in 2021.

“Sorrels Law continues to build depth in core areas of high-stakes litigation,” founding partner Randy Sorrels said in a statement. “Adding lawyers with diverse trial backgrounds allows us to serve clients across a broader set of complex personal injury and catastrophic loss matter.”

Sorrels Law focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice and catastrophic loss litigation.
