Jackson Walker announced this week the addition of Austin partner Catherine Garza to its Electric Regulatory practice.
Garza was most recently a counsel at Eversheds Sutherland, where she worked for nine years. She praised her former colleagues in a LinkedIn post about her move.
“After 9 incredible years at Eversheds Sutherland, it’s time for me to close this chapter and embark on a new journey. This firm has been my professional home, and in many ways, I grew up here,” she said. “I am deeply grateful to my mentor, sponsor, and champion, Lino Mendiola III, who, as we said our goodbyes, expressed his wish for my success wherever I go. His support has been invaluable, and I hope to pay it forward by mentoring young and aspiring attorneys.
“It was an honor and privilege to work alongside and learn from Lino, Jeffrey Stuart, and Michael Boldt over the years. I wish them and the firm nothing but the very best.”
Garza focuses on representing investor-owned utilities, power generation companies, and retail electric providers in contested proceedings related to rate cases and regulatory applications before the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
She has served as a mentor for a St. Mary’s law student through the LCLD Program and is going to mentor another 1L this year. “These students represent the future of our profession,” she said on LinkedIn.
The 2014 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law started her legal career as a staff attorney at Susman Godfrey.
