By Brooks Igo – (September 19) – At a time when partners are leaving Big Law for boutiques, real estate transaction expert Brad Lowry is doing the opposite.
Jackson Walker recently announced Lowry has joined the 330-lawyer firm after a tenure at Haynie Rake Repass & Lowry, a five-lawyer boutique. Before joining his friends at Haynie Rake, Lowry practiced for more than 20 years at Haynes and Boone.
The Baylor Law School graduate recently closed on a deal where he represented a mixed-use developer in the acquisition of almost 5,000 acres in a suburb near Houston. In another deal, Lowry represented a retail developer in a $100 million development.
Lowry says he and his clients are fortunate to be in Texas.
“With our population growth and good business environment, we have some things going for us that many other parts of the country do not, and it gives us some immunity to negative national trends,” he said.
He added that demand remains strong for office, multifamily, retail and industrial space.
“As long as interest rates remain historically low, we will continue to see solid growth for the foreseeable future, at least in Texas,” he said.
Lowry is Jackson Walker’s second partner addition to its real estate practice in Dallas this year. Steve Jenkins – a 40-year commercial real estate veteran – joined in January.
