(June 5) – Ohio-based Cardinal Health announced Friday that it has agreed to acquire The Harvard Drug Group from private equity firm Court Square Capital Partners for $1 billion.

Michigan-based The Harvard Drug Group distributes generic pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter medications and related products to retail, institutional and alternate care customers.

Jones Day represented Cardinal Health on the acquisition. No Texas lawyers served as lead attorneys, but Dallas and Houston associates Alain Dermarkar, Melissa Kalka, Osman Ahmed and Jackie Kelso were involved.

Philadelphia firm Dechert represented The Harvard Drug Group.

The deal is expected to close in the beginning of fiscal year 2016. It is subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
