KBR Lawyer Named President of the University of Houston Law Alumni Association

May 30, 2019 Brooks Igo

The University of Houston Law Center recently named Victor Wright, senior counsel of labor and employment law at KBR Inc., as president of its Law Alumni Association.

Wright has said the two main objectives for his two-year term is to increase diversity and inclusion among alumni association board members and to expand the group’s geographic reach beyond Houston.

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Wright transitioned his military service into becoming a JAG attorney after receiving his law degree in 1998. He served in the JAG Corps for seven years before joining Haynes and Boone in 2005.

Wright moved in-house to TransCanada in 2008 as associate general counsel. He briefly rejoined Haynes and Boone in 2016 before jumping to KBR Inc.’s legal department that same year.

At KBR, Wright works in the Houston-based company’s government solutions business segment, where he directs legal services for more than 15,000 employees across the U.S. and internationally.

In his commencement remarks welcoming the law school’s newly-minted alumni, Wright encouraged the 2019 graduates to do three things:

“First, Stay engaged – with each other and the network of friends and colleagues you have established while here and with the Law Center.

Second, Get Involved – actively seek out opportunities to give back to the Law Center with your time, talents and treasure (and by using the word “treasure” I mean your money).

Finally, Be Committed to the process of joining of building a legacy at the Law Center for the benefit of others who will follow you in joining the long red line of esteemed graduates from this great law school.”
