(Aug. 29) – Earlier this year, Houston trial lawyer Mark Lanier hired former U.S. Solicitor Ken Star to argue a couple of cases at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
This week, Lanier hired the former Baylor University chancellor to join the firm full time as Of Counsel.
American Lawyer broke the news Monday that Starr, who also served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, would join the plaintiff’s-oriented law firm, which has 60 lawyers.
In a written statement, Lanier said that Starr is focusing his practice on appellate matters and other legal issues of special interest to the firm.
“Not only is Judge Starr a great advocate of constitutional issues in the courtroom, but he also has been a tireless advocate throughout his career for those who face persecution based on their religious beliefs, regardless of the foundation of those beliefs,” Lanier said.
“Judge Starr could have his pick of national and international firms with whom to work, and we are honored that he chose us.”
