The season for law firms to promote lawyers to partner has started.
Kirkland & Ellis, one of the world’s largest and richest corporate firms, announced Monday that 205 lawyers – 21 of them in Texas – have been voted into the partnership effective Oct. 1.
Kirkland’s 21 newly promoted Texas partners is down from 25 last year but it is still likely to be one of the largest new partner classes of any business law firm.
Eleven of the new partners are based in Houston, eight are in Dallas and three are in Austin. Thirteen of the 21 new partners have transactional practices, five are in litigation and three have an executive compensation practice.
