The Kirkland & Ellis Texas team did not need long to make its case this week with a Texas Triangle deal blitz stretching from Canada to West Texas.
In less than 24 hours, the firm’s public relations team, almost as busy as its deal team, rolled out a rapid-fire run of transactions involving its Austin, Dallas and Houston dealmakers, from a $2.6 billion AI-cloud financing to a $1.8 billion Aeroplan investment, an Ohio consulting-firm deal and more.

And why the firm’s 500 Lone Star lawyers generated a record-smashing $1.39 billion in revenue in Texas in 2025, a 21 percent increase over 2024, according to the Lawbook 50.
For Kirkland’s Texas lawyers, the latest announcements also suggest the robust deal advisory activity in the first half of the year was not just a peak, but a pace.
Here is a closer look at the transactions and the Texas dealmakers behind them.
On Aug. 10, New Jersey cloud computing for AI company CoreWeave said that it closed a $2.6 billion delayed draw term loan facility that it plans to use for the continued expansion of its AI cloud platform.
The Kirkland team that advised CoreWeave includes Lucas Spivey (Houston), Osaro Aifuwa (Houston), Tyler Wills (Austin), Amber Yokubaitis (Dallas), Bill Benitez (Houston), David Wheat (Dallas/Houston), Joe Tobias (Dallas), Brooke Schafer (Dallas) and Brett Ackerman (Dallas).
Also on Aug. 10, Louisiana private equity firm Bernhard Capital Partners said that it has acquired Bowman Consulting Group, an engineering services and program management firm based in Reston, Virginia, for $43 a share cash and an enterprise value of about $1 billion.
Kirkland Houston partner Bill Benitez led the team that advised Bernhard with Alex Robertson (Dallas), Jonathan Sapp (Dallas), William Kelly (Houston), Andrew Watson (Dallas), Jordan Roberts (Houston), Brittany Taylor (Houston), Julian Seiguer (Houston), Mark Dundon (Houston), Griffin Peeples (Houston) and Stephen Jacobson (Houston/New York).
Then on Aug. 11, Air Canada said Blackstone and La Caisse along with other Canadian financial institutions are acquiring a 25 percent stake in the airline’s travel loyalty and frequent-flyer program, Aeroplan Inc., for about $1.8 billion.
Kirkland advised Blackstone with a team that included Houston lawyers John Pitts, Gabrielle Sumich, Lucas Spivey, Jordan Roberts and Charles Martin with Reese Gwin in Dallas.
Also on Aug. 11, Dallas private equity firm Trinity Hunt Partners said that it has invested in Fisher Management Partners, a private boutique management consulting firm based in Columbus, Ohio. Terms weren’t disclosed. Kirkland Dallas partnerThomas Laughlin — who was one of three lawyers who advised on the most deals in the first half of 2026, according to the exclusive CDT data, with 22 deals — led the team that provided counsel to Trinity Hunt Partners.
Jordan Rex (Dallas), Sarah Walden(Dallas), David Wheat (Dallas), Rebecca Fine (Dallas), Christie Alcala (Houston), Kristen Tyler (Houston), Vincent Forcinito (Dallas), Tate Whitten (Dallas) and David Yaka (Austin) also provided counsel to Trinity Hunt.
Meanwhile, Dallas energy infrastructure company Mora Energy said on Aug. 12 that it closed the acquisition of two firms in the Midland Basin and also closed on a new revolving line of credit. Mora also said its sponsor, Dallas private equity firm NGP Energy Capital Management, “significantly increased equity commitments,” while BOK Financial and Huntington Bank led the new credit facility. Terms of the deals weren’t disclosed.
Kirkland Dallas partners Kevin Crews and Jacqueline Scioli led the team that advised Mora on each of the transactions.
