(July 14) – K&L Gates recently announced that labor and employment expert Nick Spiliotis has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner.
Spiliotis was previously at Jackson Walker. He says he was attracted to K&L Gates’ global platform.
“Nick enhances our ability to advise U.S. and multinational employers on workplace and employment issues in Texas and across the country,” Randel Young, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Houston office, said in a statement.
Spiliotis advises employers in the energy, hospitality, maritime and manufacturing industries on employment and workplace safety issues. He says his clients are concerned with implementing the U.S. Department of Labor’s new salary requirements for white-collar overtime exemptions that go into effect in December.
“Many clients are assessing and revising their exempt/non-exempt classifications, compensation structure and other related policies and procedures,” he said.
