K&L Gates Continues to Grow Houston Office, Adds Two Partners

April 24, 2013 Mark Curriden

Bruce A. Blefeld and Trey A. Monsour are K&L Gates’ latest additions to the firm’s Houston office. Blefeld, who will practice in the firm’s antitrust section, was previously a partner at Jackson Walker, while Monsour, who will practice in the firm’s restructuring and bankruptcy section, was a partner at Haynes and Boone.

Blefeld, a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law, focuses his practice on antitrust litigation and other complex commercial litigation matters.

He recently successfully defended a global health care device and supply company in a $1 billion antitrust suit; defended the largest health group purchasing organization (GPO) in a $600 million antitrust matter; was a key member of the trial team that prevented Hexion Specialty Chemicals from terminating its $6.5 billion agreement to acquire his client’s company; and was among a trial team that represented several international insurers in an $850 million claim arising from the Exxon Valdez oil spill, one of the largest such cases ever tried.

Monsour, a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, focuses his practice on workouts, restructuring troubled businesses, and commercial bankruptcy cases. He advises clients in the energy, retail, restaurant, supplier and manufacturing sectors and is national bankruptcy counsel to one of the Fortune Global 500 Top Companies.

K&L Gates opened its Houston office in February with Charles Strauss and now has six partners and one counsel.
