Latham Picks Up Another Willkie Dealmaker in Houston

April 11, 2022 Brooks Igo

Less than a month after landing one veteran deal partner from Willkie Farr & Gallagher, Latham & Watkins has landed another.

The firm announced this week that it has hired Scott Miller from Willkie. Just last month they announced the hiring of Bruce Herzog, Miller’s colleague at Willkie for the last six years.

Miller’s move marks the third such departure from Willkie in the last few weeks, with the loss of Michael De Voe Piazza to Gibson Dunn.

Miller represents private equity firms and companies in corporate, transactional and securities law matters. He has particular experience in acquisitions and divestitures in the manufacturing, distribution, industrial and energy sectors.

“Latham is the market leader in private equity and M&A and I am excited to join this world-class firm,” Miller (pictured) said in a statement. “Latham’s integrated global platform and understanding of the local market makes it a one-stop firm for sophisticated corporate work.”

Last December Miller and Herzog advised Pennsylvania-based healthcare recruiting and staffing company GHR Healthcare, which was owned by Houston private equity firm Platform Partners, in its sale to MidOcean Partners, a New York private equity firm.

Also last year Miller represented Artisan Design Group, a portfolio company of Houston-based private equity firm The Sterling Group, in its acquisition of Great Floors, the largest provider of flooring products and installation services in the Northwest.

Miller started his career at Bracewell, where he practiced for 16 years. He joined Willkie in 2016.
