The Dallas Bar Association announced on Tuesday that Laura Benitez Geisler has been elected president of the 11,000-member association.
Geisler, who will be the first Hispanic member to serve in the DBA’s top leadership role, will be sworn in as the bar’s 110th president on January 12, 2019.
The SMU Dedman School of Law graduate began serving on the DBA Board of Directors in 2007 when she was president of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. She served as chair of the board in 2015 and is also a past president of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association.
Geisler focuses her practice on personal injury matters. As co-chair of the DBA’s Equal Access to Justice Campaign benefitting the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, she helped raise more than $1.1 million.
