(March 12) — Which attorney is the best poker player in Dallas?

Randy Block

The answer will come on Saturday, April 26th at a free Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament presented by Performance Legal Placement and Heritage Auctions.

The poker tournament is invite-only and Texas Lawbook readers can contact me to receive an invite to the tournament (randyblock@performancelp.com). Law firm partners are welcome to bring a client with them. Law firms are welcome to have their own poker table.

The tournament will feature professional dealers, tables and a tournament director. Admission is free and no actual money will change hands. After players are eliminated, there will be consolation tables so that people can continue playing Hold ‘Em.

Dallas Cowboys legend Randy White will also be at the event meeting guests and signing autographs. He is perfect for this event. He is the friendliest and most approachable Dallas Cowboy that I have met. Plus, he is a Hall of Famer and Super Bowl MVP.

We are looking at 100 to 150 attorneys in attendance. Even if someone does not want to play poker, they can hang out and drink a beer with Randy White.

rwhite1Ron Chapman, Jr., a Dallas shareholder and member of the Board of Directors at Ogletree Deakins, attended my Super Bowl party that featured guests Bob Lilly and Jay Novacek.

“Randy’s events are always first-class,” Chapman says. “You can tell he takes pride in providing opportunities for law firm leaders to get to know one another better, which unfortunately with busy schedules we do infrequently. The fact that Randy provides those opportunities in fun atmospheres makes the events all the more appealing.”

The tournament will be held at Heritage Auctions’ building located in the Dallas Design District. Heritage is the largest collectibles auctioneer and third largest auction house in the world. The company will have rare sports memorabilia on display as well as other interesting collectibles.

Tournament prizes will include a trophy for the champion, as well as numerous autographed sports memorabilia items that I have acquired in person from Troy Aikman, Earl Campbell, Mike Modano and others.
