(April 22) – Lewis Brisbois Dallas partner John Browning won his fourth Burton Award for Distinguished Achievement in Legal Writing, the firm announced late last week. He received the 2014 award for his article, “Keep Your ‘Friends’ Close and Your Enemies Closer: Walking the Ethical Tightrope in the Use of Social Media,” published in the St. Mary’s Journal of Legal Malpractice & Ethics in 2013.
Browning, a trial lawyer and University of Texas School of Law graduate, will be presented with the award on June 9 at a black tie gala at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
The Burton Awards, established in 1999, are considered by some as the “Pulitzer of the legal profession.” The submissions are evaluated and selected by a panel of judges and legal professors from Harvard, Stanford and Columbia.
