The former general counsel of Virage Capital Management, Burke McDavid, has landed back in private practice at Winstead, the firm announced Tuesday.
McDavid, an alumnus of SMU Dedman School of Law, will co-chair Winstead’s investment management and private funds industry group.
“Burke has developed a unique understanding of the investment and private fund sector. He embodies the principles that define Winstead and we look forward to the valuable contributions he will make in advancing our focus of providing expertise and exceptional client-service,” Andrew Rosell, who co-chairs Winstead’s business and transactions department and will co-chair the investment management and private funds industry group with McDavid, said in a statement.
Prior to serving as general counsel and chief compliance officer at Virage, McDavid practiced for more than two decades at Akin Gump, where he advised on the formation and operation of private investment funds – both hedge funds and private equity funds.
