By Natalie Posgate – (July 3) – Locke Lord closed a $915 million oil and gas asset acquisition Monday for Houston-based Memorial Production Partners LP, which acquired oil producing properties in Wyoming from Dallas-based Merit Energy Company.
The Locke Lord team was Houston-based and was led by energy M&A partner Terry Radney, who received assistance from tax partner Mitch Tiras and associate Hunter Summerford.
The trio also represented Memorial in April when it purchased $173 million worth of Eagle Ford oil and gas properties from Houston-based Alta Mesa Holdings, LP. The deal gave Memorial about 800 acres of oil and gas producing properties in Karnes County, Texas, which are currently producing about 1,650 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Memorial’s general counsel is Kyle Roane, who assumed his position in January. Before that, he was the general counsel and corporate secretary for Memorial’s general partner, Memorial Production Partners GP LLC. Before going in-house with Memorial, Roane spent about seven years practicing corporate and securities law at Akin Gump.
It is unknown who represented Merit in the transaction.
