After 15 years on the Dallas Court of Appeals, Elizabeth Lang-Miers has returned to her old law firm Locke Lord as a partner and director of attorney development.
Lang-Miers lost her bid for reelection in November to Democrat Leslie Lester Osborne. She authored more than 1,800 opinions during her time on the bench.
Prior to being appointed by then-Governor Rick Perry to Texas’ Fifth Court of Appeals in 2003, Lang-Miers had practiced at Locke Lord for nearly three decades.
“Successful law firms do a great job at talent management — and that includes recruiting and retaining strong performers and training young lawyers,” Lang-Miers said in a statement. “To be able to return to Locke Lord and focus on this crucially important piece of the firm’s already exceptional culture is a wonderful opportunity for me.”
Respected by attorneys across the state, Lang-Miers received awards from the Texas Bar Foundation, the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Women Lawyers Association and the Texas Center for the Judiciary.
Lang-Miers has also been an involved leader in the legal community. She is chair-elect of the Judicial Division of the American Bar Association, past chair of the ABA’s Appellate Judges Conference and past president of the Dallas Bar Association. She sits on the boards of the Center for American and International Law and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society.
