Lone Star Funds Buys Ceramic Glaze Maker for $693M

July 13, 2017 Natalie Posgate

Dallas-based Lone Star Funds said Thursday that it will purchase Esmalglass, a supplier of intermediate products for the ceramic industry, to Bahrain-based Investcorp for 605 million euros ($693 million).

Lone Star’s general counsel is William Young. Before launching his in-house career, Young was a finance partner in Vinson & Elkins’ Dallas and London offices. During his time at V&E, he served as global head of the firm’s finance practice, a member of its management and compensation committee and co-head of the Dallas office.

Spain-based Esmalglass manufactures and supplies frits, glazes, pigments and digital inks for the ceramic sector. It has approximately 1,400 employees globally.

Jones Day’s Madrid office led the deal for Investcorp.
