Longtime Litigator-Turned GC Returns to Private Practice in BakerHostetler’s Dallas Office

May 5, 2026 Jason Philyaw

Lisa Staler Gallerano is returning to private practice after a nearly a decade as an in-house general counsel, joining BakerHostetler’s Dallas office as of counsel in the firm’s litigation practice group.

Gallerano also will be a member of the firm’s commercial litigation team. She spent 28 years at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld before moving to the GC post at Epsilon Data Management, an Irving-based marketing technology and data analytics company. She then spent a little less than five years as GC at Guaranty Bank & Trust, which is based in Addison and has 33 locations across the Lone Star State.

For the better part of two decades, Gallerano was a lead trial partner at Akin with a complex business litigation practice, representing both corporate defendants and plaintiffs protecting their business interests.

BakerHostetler said Gallerano brings seasoned judgment and courtroom strength to clients navigating complex commercial disputes.

“Lisa’s return to law firm practice is an outstanding addition for our clients in Dallas and nationally,” said Steven Dettelbach, BakerHostetler chair of national litigation. “Her addition directly supports our firm’s goal to invest in pressure-tested, trial-ready talent and practical, business-first counsel where clients need it most. She brings a rare combination of first-chair trial experience and C-suite leadership that enhances the way we help clients manage risk, make decisions and win disputes. We are excited to welcome Lisa to the firm and to our Dallas office.”

At Guaranty Bank & Trust, Gallerano managed litigation, trademark, patent, commercial contracts and insurance matters, and she worked with executive management, leadership and the board. At Epsilon Data Management, she guided a team of more than two dozen, managing litigation pertaining to privacy, data governance and information security, compliance, commercial contracts, patents and trademarks, human resources, mergers and acquisitions, government relations, and internal and external audits.

BakerHostetler said Gallerano built a strong, complex business litigation practice during her tenure at Akin, where she also served as the office hiring partner and won awards for mentoring and pro bono work.

Gallerano has a bachelor’s from the University of Dallas and received her JD from the Southern Methodist University.
