Mario Barrera is bringing his talents as a labor and employment lawyer to Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P as a new partner in the San Antonio office.
Before joining Fulbright, Barrera was a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani. Barrera has spent the past 16 years as a first chair attorney in cases involving race, national origin, gender and age discrimination. He is well-known for his successful cases in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and along the Gulf Coast.
“Mario has a fine reputation for achieving successful verdicts in cases throughout Texas, but especially in the difficult venues of the Lower Rio Grande Valley and along the Gulf Coast,” said George Scofield, partner-in-charge of Fulbright’s San Antonio office.
Barrera has worked on cases involving a compendium of acts, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Americans with Disabilites Act (ADA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). He also has experience with cases involving discrimination and whistleblower claims, workers compensation retaliation, First and Fourteenth Amendment cases, employment tort and contractual claims.
Fluent in Spanish, Barrera is a graduate from the University of Texas School of Law.
