(Dec. 9) – Eighteen year Mary Kay veteran Julia A. Simon has been promoted to be the cosmetic and personal care company’s top corporate lawyer.
Addison-based Mary Kay announced Thursday that Simon, who has been the company’s deputy general counsel, is its new chief legal officer.
A 1991 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Simon joined Mary Kay in 1995 as a lawyer specializing in employment law. In 1996, she joined the law firm then known as Locke Purnell Rain Harrell, where she was made a partner.
Simon rejoined Mary Kay’s legal department in 2000.
Mary Kay officials say that Simon will serve on the company’s executive committee and will manage all aspects of the company’s legal, risk management, corporate communications and corporate social responsibility functions.
Simon currently serves on the Women in the Profession Committee for the State Bar of Texas and is a member of the General Counsel Working Group at the Center for Women in Law at the University of Texas. She also has served on the board of directors for charitable organizations including the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, Family Gateway, Friends of the Dallas Public Library, and the Dallas Zoological Society.
The Association of Corporate Counsel and D CEO Magazine named Simon their “Outstanding Deputy General Counsel.”
