Houston litigation partner Brandon Renken joined Mayer Brown this week.
Renken was previously at Locke Lord, where he had practiced since graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in 2006.
While his litigation practice spans trade secret, personal injury, real estate and securities matters, he has developed a focus on business merger disputes. Renken’s clients have included Academy, Blue Sage Capital, Dinerstein Companies and T-Mobile.
Last fall, he secured a victory for Hunting Energy Services in a multi-million dollar claim related to a downhole pipe failure. The matter is currently on appeal and has an ongoing sister case in Midland.
Renken also achieved a take-nothing victory in a virtual trial at the end of 2020 for Highland Resources, Inc. in a contract dispute with the former CEO.
Outside of his law practice, Renken is deeply involved with the Special Olympics and the American Heart Association. He serves as an East Region board member for the Special Olympics and is on the Houston Bar Association’s Special Olympics committee, where he was a former chair.
Renken is the second litigation partner Mayer Brown has added in the last three months. The firm picked up securities litigator Jackie Vallette from Jones Day in December.
