Mayer Brown announced Tuesday that it has recruited a six-partner Houston litigation team from McGuireWoods.
The group is led by Yasser and Meghaan Madriz and includes Gregory Krock, Miles Indest, Jason Huebinger, and Wolfgang McGavran. Yasser was the Houston office managing partner for McGuireWoods.
In a LinkedIn post, Yasser said they look forward to contributing to Mayer Brown’s “strong legacy in Texas and supporting its mission to lead the market.
“Exciting opportunities lie ahead, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together. We are excited to continue serving our clients on this new global platform.”
Mayer Brown leaders emphasized the lateral group’s experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
“This team represents the high-caliber talent that aligns with our strategy to grow in markets critical to our clients,” Jon Van Gorp, chair of Mayer Brown, said in a statement.
“Mayer Brown has been in Texas for decades, among the first non‑Texas firms to recognize the state’s global role in energy and international markets. This strategic hiring underscores the firm’s longstanding commitment to Texas.”
Mayer Brown opened its Houston office in 1982. The firm rounded out last year’s Texas Lawbook 50 leaderboard with $72.4 million in Texas revenue for 2024.
