McGuireWoods began September with a new managing partner of its 40-lawyer Dallas office.
Jason Cook, a patent litigator, succeeded corporate partner Akash Sethi, who has headed up the Dallas office for the past five years.
The Richmond, Virginia-based law firm saw its Dallas headcount jump from five partners to 40-plus lawyers over Sethi’s tenure. The firm also has Texas outposts in Houston and Austin.
“Under Akash’s leadership, the Dallas office developed into a thriving office with local, national and international clients,” Cook said in a statement. “I hope to work with the attorneys and staff to continue that growth and solidify McGuireWoods’ Dallas office as an amazing place to work and practice law.”
Cook’s clients include communications companies, energy companies, computer manufacturers, banks and semiconductor companies. He has handled more than 90 patent infringement cases in the Eastern District of Texas, and he has significant experience filing and prosecuting Inter Partes Review and Covered Business Method actions with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
