McKool Smith announced on Tuesday that Dallas patent litigator Erik Fountain has rejoined the firm as a principal.
Fountain, who was most recently at Sidley, focuses his practice on patent, trade secret, and licensing disputes. He has represented Ericsson in a licensing dispute related to unpaid royalties and breach-of-FRAND allegations and in numerous ITC investigations. Other clients he has counseled include Halliburton, Rovi/TiVo, Nevro, and Freddie Mac.
The 2015 SMU Dedman School of Law alumnus began his career in Big Law at McKool Smith after clerkships with Eastern District of Texas Judge Rodney Gilstrap and in the civil litigation division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas.
“I gained invaluable experience during my years as an associate at McKool Smith working alongside some of the country’s finest attorneys and am excited to be back where I started my career,” Fountain said in a statement.
