Cincinnati-based Frost Brown Todd, which has operations in Dallas and Houston, announced Wednesday that it is merging with the Newark-headquartered law firm Gibbons.
The merged firm will be called FBT Gibbons and will have about 800 lawyers in 25 offices across the U.S.
“This combination marks a major step forward for our Texas offices,” said Eddy Moore, Dallas Office partner-in-charge and leader of Frost Brown Todd’s private equity and venture practice group in an email to The Texas Lawbook. “By joining with Gibbons, we’re gaining access to new markets and deeper capabilities that will allow us to scale our services and tackle more complex, cross-regional matters — without losing the collaborative, client-first approach that defines our work here in Texas. We also see tremendous opportunity in the existing Gibbons client base, many of whom have significant operations and employees in Texas, further expanding the ways we can support their business and ours.”
Both law firms focus on middle-market clients and startups.
Frost Brown Todd opened its first Texas office in Dallas in 2015 and now has 31 lawyers in North Texas. In 2020, the firm opened a Houston office that now has 14 attorneys.
“Texas is a powerhouse for energy and manufacturing, and this combination strengthens our ability to serve those industries with expanded talent and broader capabilities,” said Ken Bullock, Houston office partner-in-charge, in an email to The Lawbook. “It’s a strategic move that aligns perfectly with the needs of our clients here, enhancing our reach and deepening collaboration across markets where their businesses operate.”
