Legendary Dallas corporate lawyer Mike Boone, co-founder of Haynes Boone, has been named as one of six named to the 2024 class of inductees to the Texas Business Hall of Fame, where he joins the ranks of such Texas business luminaries as H.L. Hunt, T. Boone Pickens, Mark Cuban, Stanley Marcus and Red McCombs.
Boone and his mentor, Richard Haynes, co-founded the firm as a two-lawyer operation in 1970, growing it to more than 700 lawyers spread across 19 offices in four countries. He earned his J.D. at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1967, alongside an undergraduate degree in accounting.
He’s represented a wide range of well-known families in Texas over the years. He counseled the Perot family interests in Dells’ 2009 acquisition of Perot Systems and ClubCorp (founded by Robert Dedman) in its acquisition by KSL Capital Partners in 2006.
Boone will be formally inducted at a dinner in November alongside former NBA star David Robinson, Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, M1 Support Service co-founder Kathleen Hildreth, EnCap Investments co-founder David B. Miller and Taylor Sheridan, creator of TV hits like “Yellowstone,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves.”
The Texas Lawbook profiled Boone in 2015 as one of its “Lions of the Texas Bar,” which recognized 50 legendary attorneys.
